FCC

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulates interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories. An independent U.S. government agency overseen by Congress, the commission is the United States’ primary authority for communications laws, regulation and technological innovation. It was formed by the Communications Act of 1934.

USAC

USAC is the long-time contractor to the FCC that provides all the administrative and management services to implement the various FCC Universal Service programs.  These services include managing the fees/taxes collected by telecommunications providers required by law in support of FCC public benefit programs.  Additionally, the services include disbursement of these funds to qualified recipients and management of the qualification process for recipients.
